Sky Bridge hotels
The Sky Bridge is one of the tourist attractions in the Langkawi archipelago in Malaysia. This cable-stayed, pedestrian bridge is also one of the most unique bridges in the world, stretching 125 metres and curving around the peak of the Gunung Mat Chinchang. Just completed in 2005, the bridge hangs at more than 700 metres above the ground. Thus, those who dare to walk around the bridge will be given a rare look of the island's breathtaking landscape, dominated by luscious valleys, mountains, and virgin jungles. This unique bridge can only be reached via the Langkawi Cable Car System.
- Walk past the cable car's Top Station and climb the stairs to the two viewing platforms at the top of the Gunung Mat Chinchang mountain to get spectacular views of rock towers, cliffs, the Langkawi islands, and southern Thailand's Tarutao Island.
- Go trekking in the forested area between the cable car's stations to discover the vast number of flora and geological formations of Langkawi's Gunung Mat Chinchang forest reserve.
- Ride the cable car to the Base Station of Sky Bridge and explore the theme shopping centre called Oriental Village, which houses several buildings exhibiting traditional Malaysian architecture.
The Oriental Village, which houses the Langkawi Cable Car System that provides sole access to the Sky Bridge, is just a 30-minute drive from Kuah and a 15-minute drive from the Langkawi International Airport. Buses and trains are not available on the island but visitors can hire a taxi or a van to reach the Oriental Village. Alternatively, tourists can hire a car or scooter during their stay in Langkawi. There are many tourist shops and operators that offer such services. Some hotels and resorts can also arrange a shuttle service to bring guests the Sky Bridge.
