Great hotel but staff in need of training

In general, this is a nice hotel and staff is very friendly and do try their best. After 3 consecutive stays there, I noticed however that the staff is in need of basic training on how to service a 5-star hotel. It is one thing to be friendly and another to be efficient and actually render good service. Having said that, it is minor little glitches, such as finding a shrunken bathrobe in the wardrobe in a deluxe room and not having had good sunny side eggs at every breakfast. They are minor but when there are a lot of minor glitches, it becomes a little annoying. After all, paying for a room in a 5-star hotel merits excellent 5-star service. The hotel is located centrally and in a great area from which to explore on foot. If you have a sea view room on a high floor, the view is spectacular especially at sunset. The bed is comfortable and clean. I think that the hotel is in need of a spruce up and maybe a face lift and renovation as it is aged and you can feel it. I hear very well from the room where I was, someone taking a shower on another floor (possible the upper) because the pipes told me so. And I can hear conversations from the corridor. If you don't mind any of this, this hotel is indeed far above many of the local hotels in terms of comfort.

Good hotel but needs better coordination

Experience badly marked when told breakfast is not included in a breakfast included package. It took a long 30 minutes and tremendous hazzle to get it resolved. No in-room internet unless subject to extra premium is also a sub 5 stars hotel standard. Upside is its prime location. Room is clean and spacious. Facilities are good. Most staffs are friendly. Overall a good hotel in hardware but software falls short of a 5-star hotel.

Excellent Location

Right at the waterfront market and close to everywhere - just a few minutes to all the seafood restaurants. We had a sea view room and enjoyed the fantastic sunset view. The only draw back is that the furniture is a bit old. However it is value for money at the price we paid.

Great views

We just adored our 11th floor room which overlooked the river and night markets, we were also able to walk across the road to the night entertainment area. We enjoyed the seafood night in the hotel which was great value for our money, our breakfasts were wonderful and great variety. The hotel staff were ever so friendly and we enjoyed the privilages in the lounge on the 12th floor, the staff there were great and really know how to look after people. Perfect holiday experience in Le Meridian!! Thank you!

Join The Club

On checking in I was invited to join the Meridian Club at an additional cost of approx $A30 per night. I accepted and discussed this with like-minded members in the club and we all agreed that we were getting $A100 benefit a day. Membership included breakfast in the excellent 12th Floor Lounge, free internet (essential if on business) as well as drinks and canapes in the evening. Considering the cost of cocktails/wine in KK, this was excellent value and the room rate was already competitive.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

A few good bars /restaurants practically across the road including the usual Irish Bar and Aussie Bar. Depending on your views of food stalls, there are many BBQ stalls in the market immediately across the road. Some friends swear by them as excellent food.

Nice Hotel

The room is clean and large, and the staff is nice and kind. The location is near by many massage stores and markets. It's regrettable that the tourist agency is a little bit far form here. You need to go there in 15-20 mins by walk.

Good short family getaway!

Great Stay. Good location, just across the road is the Filipino market and local markets selling local produce i.e. mangos, and dried salted fish market next to the Filipino market. Many eating places also found near the hotel. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms are very big and clean. Overall, very happy with the stay!!
