Great Position

I have stayed at this hotel on 4 separate occasions and found it to be in a good position for getting to the places of interest around Macau also it provides a good edible breakfast for both Europeans and Asians alike. The hotel may be a little old but the rates charged are very good for the quality of the hotel. The only gripe I have is that Free W fi is not provided in the rooms only in the Public Areas of the hotel. It has a good Swimming pool and Sauna /Steam and hot tub that can be enjoyed by the guests. William

Definately not 5 Star! 2 star Max!!!!! Be Warned!!!!!!

I booked online wanting 5 Star experience to finish my trip! I stayed in room 603! Wasn't anything 5 star about it! Before I get into details let me explain my background first! I'm from a big family of 10 kids so we know what survival and poor is! I'm also ex army and can live off the land and tolerate discomforts in the field and I'm also a qualified chef and well travelled around the world so I have been in quality hotels and some have been dumps! I rate the staff as excellent! Helpful and eager to please on arrival! The check in is good and well managed for a busy place! That's where it stops though! Macau was the last stop on my 4 country tour this round! After Hong Kong, Mainland China and KL. On the sixth floor I was hit by stale smoke in the whole corridor! On entering my room the smell was exchanged for old wet musky rotten carpet and really strong! I looked around the room and it was really aged and needed a full renovation! There were no plugs convenient to recharge phones, camera or iPads etc! A must these days! The water jug was an electric rice cooker of sorts! The bathroom was really aged and although tidy I wouldn't stay in thee except for emergency no2's. As for the closet! He rails were rusted chrome and I wouldn't hang anything in there at all! The safe remembered your numerical code so you only had to enter it once and it used this one??? I was booked in for 3 nights and stayed out late purposely on the first night! Only to sleep on top of the bed as I didn't want to get any bugs! By the start of the second day the smell Ferrell smell was still too strong for.me and I booked into another hote called the Emperor hotel - only 4 star and man what a fantastic experience and change of scene! Fresh room, towels and extras, free room bar and really excellent service 24-7. The only thing the Regency staff at the main desk said when I said I'm moving to another hotel even though I paid in advance for 3 nights and stayed only 1 was " you don't get a refund"!!!! My first question if I was a staffer would be can we move you toa different room or how can we fix this ? But no - iin fact it came across as if it was a regular occurance and they definately didn't care! It was ALL about the Money $$$$ and once they had it- there goal was achieved! I hope other travellers who want a 5 star experience in Macau or any other city book elsewhere! This palace is a real Dump and stay away from it! I wouldn't mind if hey actually rated it realistically and gave it 2 stars max! But 5 stars???? Come on... I enjoyed my stay in a Hutong in Beijing better and also the really cramped rooms in Hong Kong better than this place! As for my refund! I never asked for it back! I knew I wouldn't get it anyway from the reply from the front desk! I was happy just to move on and call.it a lesson .

Comfortable stay but nothing to write home about

Our experience stay with Regency has nothing much to write about. Hotel is old but well-kept. Furniture in room is nothing modern but elegant and very specious room. TV Remote is not working (TV signal is bad anyway) Breakfast is great with many to choose from. Hotel staff is helpful (those who can speak English)

A clean bed & room. Nothing special. No wifi in rooms.

Went over with a Stag/bachelor Party of 12 people. Location was good for getting around, pretty much a $40HKD taxi ride everywhere (i.e. Ferry Terminal, Venetian Casino etc.) The rooms are basic, but clean and tidy. Bathroom fittings are old and could do with updating. NO WIFI in rooms (only available in the lobby) which was pretty ridiculous in todays world. Restaurant food wasn't great. Ate there once for lunch and then we decided we would look else where for meals. Staff are good and friendly. Pool was under maintenance, which we were not advised about. I would recommend staying here if you are just looking for simple trip for gambling, group of friends for a cheap holiday, stag/bachelor party... but would not recommend for a guy trying to impress his girlfriend.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Cafe Nga Tim: 1 Rua Caetano | Coloane Island A mixture of Portugese and Chinese food. Definitely worth the stop. Sangria, portugese Chicken, BBQ Eel, drunken prawns, BBQ suckling pig... its all good. Also near by is a great portugese egg tart shop, a great dessert... just don't burn your mouth as they are freshly baked.
