Yoyogi Park hotels
Tokyo is known for mystical temples and shrines, an Otaku culture, and the wildly adorned Harajuku teeny-boppers, among other things. A single trip to Yoyogi Park may end up fulfilling your dreams of spotting every one of these local attractions, including the Harajuku style mavens who religiously congregate at the park’s Harajuku Bridge on Sundays in full cosplay (costume play). Yoyogi Park is to Tokyo’s culture what Central Park is to New York. This is equally a place to discover local fashion and people-watch as it is a haven of respite in the heart of a honeycomb of activity.
- Immerse yourself in a wild array of Tokyo’s subcultures in Yoyogi Park, including the street-artists, folk singers, the rockabilly greasers, and Visual kei musicians.
- Catch one of Tokyo’s underground, unofficial, or impromptu bands which regularly set up around the west side of the park and entertain anyone within an amp’s distance every weekend.
- Take a retreat at the Meiji Shrine, dedicated to Emperor Meiji, where you can meditate, explore murals and photographic exhibitions, and view some of the royal treasures.
Yoyogi Park, one of Tokyo’s largest, is bordered by Harajuku and Omotesando to the east, whilst Shibuya snuggles up from the south. The park is popular all over Japan, and especially with the young crowd, so you will have no trouble accessing it via public transportation. Harajuku Station, for trains, is situated right against from the east side of the park. Other train stations located beside or near Yoyogi Park include Sangubashi, Yoyogihachiman, and Minami-Shinjuku. You could also hire a taxi, and there is parking in the park available near the Meiji Shrine.
