Tokyo Tower hotels
The Tokyo Tower was inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris and stands 13 metres taller than its French counterpart. Built in 1958, the Tokyo Tower celebrates Japan's economic revival in the world market. Not just a tourist attraction, the tower is also a giant broadcasting antenna. It is magnificent to behold from the ground, but the most enthralling experience of the tower is from the observation decks. Looking out from the decks, all of Tokyo can be viewed. If the weather is particularly clear, the iconic Mt. Fuji is visible standing tall and majestic in the distance.
- Visit the Wax Museum at the base of the Tokyo Tower which features wax replicas of famous people from history and pop culture worldwide.
- Explore the Zojoji Temple, a Buddhist temple located near the base of the Tokyo Tower and dating back to the 1300s, whose cemetery includes the Unborn Children Garden and the oldest gingko tree in Tokyo.
- Follow the history of broadcasting in Tokyo by visiting the NHK Museum of Broadcasting, where the displays and exhibitions take you from the early days of broadcasting to today’s modern technologies.
Visitors from foreign lands can fly in to Tokyo International and from there may choose taxis, trains, and car hire. Tokyo is like many large cities in that parking is at a premium and traffic is heavy; public transportation is the preferable option. To get to the Tokyo Tower, take the Metropolitan Subway’s Oedo line, stop at Akabanebashi station, and walk 5 minutes. The Mita line stops at Onarimon Station, a six minute walk. The JR Train Service will drop you off at Hamamatshucho, which is a 15 minute walk to the Tower.
