Sensoji Temple hotels
Sensoji Temple is an ancient Buddhist place of worship that is situated in the Asakusa district of Tokyo, Japan. The Sensoji Temple is known as one of the most significant temples in Japan, and it is also the oldest temple in Tokyo, having been constructed in the mid-seventh century. Sensoji Temple was originally built to house a statue of the Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy, that was allegedly discovered in a nearby river. Although much of the temple was destroyed during WWII, it was rebuilt and now acts as a symbol of rebirth to citizens of Tokyo.
- Visit Tokyo in the late spring for the Sanja Matsuri, the largest Shinto Festival in the city, when the streets are closed off for colourful parades and celebrations.
- Stroll down Nakamise-Dori, the small street that leads to the Sensoji Temple, and you can buy curios from the vendors that flank the street or eat delicious foods like handmade noodles from the food stalls.
- Consult an oracle about your future at one of the omikuji stalls located within Sensoji Temple, which is an entertaining way to learn how your trip to Tokyo will turn out.
