Meiji Jingu hotels
Located in the famous Tokyo shopping and entertainment district of Harajuku, the serene and beautiful Meiji Jingu shrine is, ironically, one of the most visited attractions of the Shibuya Ward's shopping mecca. Visitors can learn about the Meiji Era through exhibits of memorabilia and antiques that belonged to Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken in the Homatsuden, or “Treasure Museum,” whose exhibitions are split between a main building and an annex called “Tenjishitsu.” There are many public ceremonies and festivals held at Meiji Jingu, such as the Spring Grand Festival, which features a traditional dance by the famous Shinto shrine maidens.
- Admire the spectacular architecture and beautiful forest of Meiji Jingu, a massive Shinto shrine complex built in 1920 to pay homage to the spirits of Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken.
- Enjoy the exotic youth culture of Yoyogi Park, a popular hangout for Tokyo teens dressed in cutting-edge punk, gothic, or rockabilly fashions and a great place to see a variety of lively street performances.
- Shop for iconic Tokyo fashions like “Gothic Lolita”-style clothing, cute Japanese toys and accessories, and other popular novelties in the hip boutiques on world-famous shopping street Takeshita-dori.
Haneda Airport is less than an hour away from Meiji Jingu using the Tokyo Monorail in connection with the Oedo or Shinjuku subway lines or the JR Yamanote rail line. International air travellers may land in Narita Airport, which is just under two hours away using a combination of the Narita Sky Access train and the same JR or subway line. Meiji Jingu is a one-minute walk from the JR Harajuku and Meiji Jingu Mae Harajuku Stations on the Yamanote, Fukutoshin, and Chiyoda Lines and a five to eight minute walk from several other rail stations in this neighbourhood.
