Edo-Tokyo Museum

The Edo-Tokyo Museum was constructed in 1993 to allow visitors into ancient Tokyo (Edo) and its history and culture. Tokyo used to be called Edo and was later renamed Tokyo in the 19th century. The main exhibit shows the politics, the way of life, and the culture of the people of Tokyo from the 18th century to present day.

The Edo –Tokyo Museum is easy to find by its sheer size. It is a massive building and is about two times the size of the Tokyo Dome. There are volunteer tour guides in almost every language needed and signs are clearly marked in English and Japanese. It’s inexpensive to visit at only 600 Yen per person with children free of charge. The Edo Tokyo Museum also frequently holds temporary exhibits that make it easy to return again and again. While special exhibits are an additional charge, they are worth the investment to learn about other historical aspects of Tokyo.

You can eat inside the Museum which is convenient for families. It is a kid friendly museum because there are interactive displays and audio/video presentations as well, so the kids have something to do. The Edo-Tokyo Museum is one of the best museums in Tokyo in inviting the guest into the history of Tokyo. This is a must-see attraction when visiting Tokyo.

The Mercure Hotel is centrally located to provide easy access to the finest shopping in Tokyo, the theatre, museums, and the fish market. The subway runs under the hotel providing easy access to any attraction in the city. The Mercure is a four star hotel with modern rooms, French style and class, and an onsite restaurant and bar. Whether you’re visiting Tokyo for business or holiday, the Mercure is convenient, elegant, and reasonably priced.
