Kagoshima has a humid subtropical climate that showcases hot summers, cool winters and warm autumns and springs. All seasons are rainy except for winter, and average annual precipitation measures in at 90 inches (2,286 mm). June and July are especially wet, but visiting can be done almost anytime of the year.
Getting There & Around
The Kagoshima Airport serves both domestic and international flights coming to the city. The airport is about an hour away from the main train station by bus, but shorter by car. The city is the last stop on the bullet train network from Japan, as well as being one of Japan's busiest ferry terminals.
There are streetcars and buses to get about the city. Most will find that the city's layout is simple to follow, making traversing it quite quick and easy.
