From the Middles Ages onward, Venice, Italy has been known for the number and quality of its glass artisans. Murano Glass Museum, located on the island of Murano, one of the outer islands in the Venetian archipelago, houses one of the finest collections of blown glass in the world. Located in an elaborate palace that was the ancient residence of the bishops of Torcello, the collection is laid out chronologically, beginning with archeologically recovered Roman pieces from the first to third century C.E. with rooms devoted to specific periods through the 20th century.

The Murano Museum of Glass is located The Museum of Glass is located in the Palazzo Giustinian around the corner from the Museo waterbus stop and near the Basilica of Santa Maria and San Donato. Visitors can reach Venice by car by crossing the Ponte della Liberta Bridge and leaving their vehicles at several nearby car parks. The city’s Santa Lucia Railway Station is located at the beginning of the Grand Canal in Santa Croce. Vaporetto services or private water taxis can take visitors to the Murano Glass Museum from either the car parks or the train station.
