Stadio Olimpico hotels
Located on the north side of Rome in the Italico Sports Complex, the Stadio Olimpico is the largest and most important sports’ stadium in Rome. Since first opening its doors in 1937 under the name Stadio dei Cipressi, Stadio Olimpico has undergone several reconstructions, including in 1990 when the stadium was nearly entirely demolished and rebuilt for the World Cup. Both the Lazio and Roma football clubs play their home games in Stadio Olimpico, a venue that has played host to the Champions League, as well as a bevy of pop concerts.
- Take a tour of Stadio Olimpico and walk across the world-famous pitch whilst seeing the dressing rooms where the best footballers in Rome prepare for a match.
- Catch an exciting match of the Italian National Rugby team and watch some of the best athletes from Rome and abroad crash aggressively as they try to score.
- See the best Italian football players compete for the Coppa Italia, the national football championship of Italy, held annually at the Stadio Olimpico.
Stadio Olimpico is situated four kilometres north of Vatican City and can be accessed in a number of ways. Although Stadio Olimpico does not lie along Rome’s Metro, Tram 2 does pass near the stadium. There are also buses that depart from locations near Vatican City and stop at the Piazzale della Farnesina station that is just a short walk away from the stadium. If travelling by car, take the Rome ring road and get off at exit N5. At times, traffic can be heavy and parking limited so be sure to give yourself plenty of time.
