Palese is a small village located in Bari, Italy, on the Adriatic coast. Bari is the capital of the Apulia region and one of the largest and most important cities in southern Italy. Evidence dates Palese back to the Bronze Age, and the village has developed steadily ever since, a fact that is evidenced by its wide variety of architecture and churches. Palese enjoys an idyllic setting on the Adriatic coast and many people come for the beaches and clear blue water. The historical sites of Bari along with the great weather make Palese a unique place to visit.
- Head to the ancient quarter of Bari, known as Barivecchia, where you can walk the narrow medieval streets and see many examples of Baroque and Gothic architecture.
- Marvel at the gold ceilings of the Basilica of Saint Nicholas, an architectural wonder located just a short distance from Palese in Bari and a main attraction in the area.
- Walk along the top of the city walls and you will be treated to amazing views of the sea and of the Saint Anthony Fort, an ancient structure that was recently turned into an art gallery featuring local artists.
The Bari-Palese Airport is the main gateway to the region, and there are a bevy of transportation options that can get you to and from the airport. Bari is one of the main ports in the area, and there are boats that arrive regularly from ports in Greece. Public buses are the cheapest way to get around Bari, with many routes that leave from the main bus station and go directly to Palese. A more scenic way to reach Palese is to take the A14 highway, which will afford you amazing views of the Adriatic Sea.
