City Break

Hotel was very comfortable and 12 noon check out welcome. We had difficulty accessing the car park due to works in progress, we would have appreciated an indication that there was access through the rear gate before paying for on-street parking (perhaps an "additional information" field on the booking website). Otherwise food and bar was top class, overall our stay was most enjoyable.

Reliable as usual

The Mespil is blessed with a good location on a lovely stretch of the Grand Canal, near Baggot St Bridge. In the Spring sunshine with the trees coming into leaf and the Thursday food stalls at the lock gate it was one of the best places to be in Dublin. As usual, the hotel is reliable and reassuring. Staff are friendly, professional and helpful. Our room was spotless and comfortable. Bathroom was gleaming, but on the top floor the shower pressure was weak. We could have done with another day but we will be back.

Business Trip to Dublin

All staff I met were excellent throughout the hotel. The hotel room was comfortable with bonus of tea/coffee making facilities. No safe available in room but available at reception. Bathroom a little dated but clean. Shower head not very powerful but plenty of hot water. Bed very comfortable and a good nights sleep was had. Very little noise heard from other rooms or corridor. Wi fi worked perfectly most of the stay.

Convenient location

The Mespil was conveniently located; Dublin city centre was a short walk away. The accommodation was comfortable but a little tired. No wardrobe or drawer space and no safe in the room. Parking was a real problem; there were spaces but not enough. Most of the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The Mespil, whilst it is a pleasant place to stay, would not be our first choice in the future.

Handy for city centre.

We stayed over New Year and found the hotel very good value for that time. It is a lovely location facing the canal but unless you are in the rooms facing the front the views are very limted - overlooking offices. The food was very good and reasonably priced for a hotel and the staff were very helpful. We would definitely stay again.

Nice holiday but...

We can't fault the hotel, it was lovely and it was an easy walk to the centre of Dublin. The only complaint was that there was no breakfast included in the price. I know that we got a deal on the room price but nowhere did it say that it was room only, so you assume a breakfast was included. That was embarrassing, which is why I can't give five stars. The breakfast (or no-breakfast in this case) should have been made clear.

Did the job.

Good location for what I needed. Lacks that extra touch and therefore it is a 3 star hotel. Staff were friendly. Room was clean but sink was leaking all over the floor. I would stay here again for a one night stay when I need a hotel in the locality.
