Lovely hotel

This is a lovely hotel. Our room on the ground floor was comfortable for two adults and two teenagers to relax before bedtime. The rooms appear to be recently decorated. The flat screen tv had 45 channels. Comfortable beds with duvets and a powerful shower. Shower gel, shampoo, hand wash and body lotion provided. Kettle, mugs, tea and coffee provided. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

Parking and layout issues

Paying for parking is not on. The hotel and underground carpark layout is very confusing. No information freely available on wi-fi.

Check your room type on check in

We paid for an executive suite for two nights. We were put in a deluxe room which was not at all very 'deluxe'.( no shower cap or tissues, dispenser shower gel, no soap) The double bed was very small with squeaky springs, the room was hot and the bright floodlights outside made us close the curtains so no fresh air could get in the very small window opening. Even though we were very tired, sleep was difficult and uncomfortable. Next morning I rechecked my booking papers with the hotels internet room photos and soon realised we had been downgraded. I went to the desk to enquire about this and was met with a less than helpful woman who said their computer system only showed a booking for a standard room and that's why we had been given one. Strange since we produced printed proof of our booking on check in. There was no apology, just a kurt response ' I will change your room' this second room was much better- the king bed we had anticipated, better quality furnishings, a quieter aspect and at least some toiletries. We had a much better sleep. Upon checkout I complained again and this time was served by a polite and apologetic young man who did his best to compensate by waiving our car park fee. He promised my concerns would be passed on to the manager, but some four days later I have not had an email from him. This hotel is in a beautiful old building with lovely gardens. It could be magnificent, but they have cut way too many corners for it to deserve four star rating. A disappointing experience.

Dining tip: In Hotel

No matter how tired you are double check your booking detalils to make sure you get the room you paid for. Executive suite rooms are a big improvement on deluxe- definitely worth the extra money.

Great Place Awful Coffee

Bewleys is always great, efficiently run, friendly, clean, beautiful old building that was once a gir'l's orhphanage run by masons. However, their coffee is appallingly bad in the cafe, mind-boggling since their entire brand is coffee orientated. Food in salad bar had obviously not been freshly prepared on a Sunday. God if they could only get catering right.

NOT BAD AT ALL

i must say i was astounded that i had to pay €10 to park my car in the on site underground car park. This was not a cheap night in dublin and i fully expected at the very least complimentary car parking but on departure in the morning, no mention of it the night before, we were asked for ten euro to validate our ticket!..its a fine hotel, well it will be when its finished, the car park has a large skip at the entrance and is still a bit of a building site but it is very comfy and friendlly. All told apart from the hidden unexpected inexplicable over night charge for using the car park i would recommend this Hotel to friends. :)

Perfect spot - will be back!

Having stayed in Bewleys Ballsbridge many times before, I knew exactly what I was going to be getting. My friend & I were going to the Rod Stewart concert next door in RDS so it was the perfect location. Food is good in restaurant but we decided to go to Roly's just a 5min walk down the road and the food was gorgeous. Saturday night after concert took us to Bellucci's Italian restaurant which was even closer to hotel - worth the going to. Bewleys is the perfect location for relaxation but also for going out to be entertained.

Perfect for us!

Stayed here whilst running in the Dublin marathon. Ideally situated next to the RDS for registration. Travelled from the airport using the Aircoach, which was brilliant value and stopped right outside the hotel. Our room was large, comfortable and immaculately clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. There are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby, and the brasserie in the hotel had plenty of choice and was very reasonably priced. The city centre is an easy walk of just over a mile, or there are plenty of buses. The hotel came highly recommended to me, and I can see why.
