The Coombe hotels
When people think of Dublin, Ireland, they typically imagine a city steeped in history, and The Coombe is a big part of that history. The Coombe is a historic street situated in the south portion of inner city Dublin. The Coombe began to gain popularity as a residential area in the 16th century when weavers moved into the area for work in wool manufacturing. Now, The Coombe is known for its unique collection of houses, as well as its beautiful churches and the women’s hospital that was built in the 18th century.
- Pay a visit to St. Luke’s Church on The Coombe to see the structure's amazing early 18th century architecture; this attraction is a must-see for Dublin visitors interested in historic architecture and design.
- Tour the Old Jamison Distillery just off The Coombe to see how this favourite Dublin whiskey is created, and then enjoy a few samples of the finished product.
- Catch a comedy show at the Ha'Penny Bridge Inn to enjoy some of the area's best talent make the crowd howl with laughter.
Dublin is a very easy city to explore, but be warned that there is occasional reports of crime on the streets, and visitors are advised to use caution and avoid walking alone at night. Getting to The Coombe is easy via the local train. Visitors should get off at the Heuston Station, one of the main railway hubs in Dublin, located just a short walk from The Coombe. Once there, the street's attractions are best explored on foot, since the street is home to many historic buildings and great local pubs.
