Grafton Street Dublin
Travelling from Stephen’s Green to College Green, Grafton Street Dublin is an expansive paradise for those who love to shop. It is one of the two main shopping streets within Dublin’s centre, and one of the most expensive in the world. This cobblestone road is for pedestrians only, allowing both tourists and locals alike to shop and stroll at leisure. Truly a magical place, Grafton Street Dublin is more than just a stretch of retail outlets. It is instead a wonderland filled with mimes, musicians, and a variety of street performances, local culinary delights and delightful treasures.
- Visit the historical Provost’s House built for Provost Saint Andrew of Trinity College in 1759, one of the most ornately decorated homes in Ireland.
- Sightsee and spend at the Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre which is home to over 100 popular shops and a large gallery which routinely hosts local art exhibitions.
- View the life-sized statue of Irish sensation Phil Lynott, Thin Lizzy’s lead songwriter and founder, a bronze tribute that sits near the Stephen’s Green end of Grafton Street, just at Harry Street.
Dublin Bus routes servicing this area include the 4, 7, 11 and the 15a and 15b. Since no motorized traffic is allowed on the actual street, riders must depart near Trinity College or Nassau Street and then traverse the short remaining distance by foot. If you are driving from the Victoria International Airport, take Highway 17 toward Victoria and exit at McKenzie Road. Travel west on McKenzie Road until it becomes Admiral Road. Follow Admiral Road to Esquimalt Road and turn right. Grafton Street Dublin will be six blocks ahead.
