What travelers to Carlow are saying

During our time there the weather was very wet so not much chance for exploring all that Carlow has to offer.

Hotels in Carlow provide an excellent base from which to explore the surrounding countryside. County Carlow is rich with historical and archaeological artefacts. At Ballygalley a number of Neolithic houses were excavated producing finds like stone axes and pottery. Hundreds of kilometres of walking trails are within county borders, making this the perfect locale for hikers. Choose from the South Leinster, the Barrow and the Wicklow Ways along with the Carlow Garden Trail for those interested in local flora. For history, drive one of three choices comprising the Trail of the Saints, featuring 51 different ecclesiastical sites. After returning to town, take in a production at the Visual Art Centre or the George Bernard Shaw Theatre.

Festivals abound in this colourful Irish town and include Taylor fest, honouring filmmaker William Desmond Taylor and Féile an Fhómhair, a bilingual festival featuring drama, literature, art, music, storytelling, cinema, comedy and entertainment of every kind. Both occur annually in early fall. The way to reach all of these great events and your accommodation in Carlow is primarily by car or bus. Most international travellers arrive via Dublin Airport and, then, either take public bus transport or car hire via the M9 highway.
