What a let down resort!!

Dont be fooled by the rather beautiful hotel entrance and greenery of the hotel surroundings. Checked in to the hotel on late Thursday evening and checked out early Sunday morning. Rooms are large and showing signs of age and shower in the bathroom shower unit was pathetic! Worse was the black coloured water that flowed from the tap in the bathroom and toilet bowl when flushed!! At breakfast-there was no pepper(the waiter said hotel had run out of it!!! Wonder how they run a supposedly 4 star hotel/kitchen). Asked for half boiled eggs and after 15 minutes eggs arrived and they were hard boiled!! Shocking that a 4 star hotel cant even sort out half boiled eggs!! Made a complaint to the front office on friday to the above observations and GUESS WHAT??? NOTHING WAS DONE AT ALL & when i asked upon checking out on sunday morning was a "cold shoulder"--"we had informed the department's and they were suppose to follow up!! TOTALLY A DISAPPOINTMENT!!

Very happy

We just stayed at this hotel and were very impressed was very hesitant after reading the reviews on here. We had a deluxe cottage and it was lovely couldn't of asked for anything more. I will say though I only recommend these rooms as the other part of hotel which is the standard rooms are very run down so I was told by all the other tourist. They all seemed to ask to be upgraded as they were terrible. I personally didn't see them but I will admit even looking from the outside I would agree. Breakfast was lovely had everything you could ask for and if it wasn't there they would make for you. Locations was right in the middle of everything and the pool was amazing. Some of the staff find understanding English a bit hard and had a few wrong orders but was all sorted out and we just laughed it off. Summing up our opinion will defitnatley stay here again but only in a deluxe cottage. We were a family of two adults and a 12 year old. A must try is a fresh pineapple of the girls on the beach omg delicious .

Sub standard holiday accommodation, not correctly star rated.

The resort facilities..ie pool, common areas, restaurants etc were nice. our room number 1411 contained within what looks like a derelict building was nothing short of a disgrace, the room was a good size, however was not maintained, and looked like it hadn't been cleaned properly for years, it was swept and tidied but tiles, basin, toilet, bath etc were yellow and stained with body fat/soap and scum which requires more than a wipe over to remove.the toilet leaked water over the floor constantly, furniture was falling apart, knobs missing, scratched and damaged, timber floors swollen, dirty and damaged. The ceiling in the bathroom was water damaged sagging and peeling, the balcony was dirty unkept and derelict so we were not inclined to use it. Every night when returning to our room through the internal bottom foyer which adjoins rooms we would watch rats running through the the area. The phone system did not work so we were unable to request service etc. on one occasion we returned to our room to find it had been tidied but we had no towels, we told the house staff who were cleaning a few rooms down, he was very eager to help, but to our horror folded two dirty towels on his trolley he had just removed from another room and handed them to us for our use !! two days later our bed was made up with a filthy sheet with what looked like dry faeces on it , this was the last straw, we made a formal compliant to reception and requested they change all linen while we were out. we returned 2.5 hrs later and it was not done. We took the sheet to reception and complained to the manager. He was apologetic and moved us to a private villa for our last night. we have stayed in many types of accommodation within asia, including thatched huts and basic rooms, however we were happy with them because they were what we expected. Santosa in Lombok has a 4 star rating and at reception they will proudly advise you that in fact they are 5 star !! We tried to upgrade our room on day of arrival after seeing our room but were unable as fully booked, we also tried to get accommodation elsewhere but xmas new year all booked out. We visited many other resorts during our stay some only 3 star, viewed rooms etc and all were far superior than those at Santosa. We spoke to many other guests also staying at Santosa and their comments were all the same as ours. Lombok is basic and laid back but we loved this and will go back....however our holiday was terribly uncomfortable and disappointing because of the extremely poor standard of rooms offered at this hotel at 4 star rates. We have taken many photos to confirm the issues raised here.

Was disappointed there is no private beach. The beach in front was dirty and parked with full of boats.

Lovely Hideaway

Lovely gardens, very spacious rooms and large pool. But bathrooms in off a big clean up. Location wise is very good smack bang in the middle of resturants and shops. Wi Fi in room is not good, but in business centre has free use of computers and WIFI reception is better. Breakfast is good. Lovely staff with good english overall.

Peace and serenity

The hotel is just so lovely the grounds are beautiful and pool huge. The pool lounges are new but the towels could be updated. We were upgraded to a bungalow which was big, roomy and even thou we were one of 4 you couldn't hear anyone and our balcony was very private. The only thing they could do to make room better is get new towels for the room. The breakfast was the same most days but the donuts were sooogood everyday. The staff and hotel is fantasitic we would stay again.
