Ubud Market hotels
The Ubud Market is located in Ubud city, Bali, near the Royal Palace. Vendors there sell an amazing range of merchandise and goods, handicrafts, artwork and food. The quality of product, especially artwork, is higher at this market than other markets here. Much of the handiwork you find there is made in the nearby towns of Pengosekan, Payangan and Peliatan. Polite bargaining is in order at this market. Ubud Market has recently gained renown as a site in the book and movie, “Eat, Pray, Love”. You can find quality souvenirs at this colourful marketplace.
- Buy a batik piece at the Ubud Market, where you will find batiked products like sarongs, scarves and raw fabric, usually of higher quality than much of what you find elsewhere in Bali.
- Grab a bite to eat at the food stalls in Bali’s Ubud Market, that offer Balinese savoury crepes, sweet sticky rice, fried banana and all sorts of goodies.
- Check out the monkeys at Ubud Sacred Monkey Forest, which is located less than 1 kilometre from the market, where you can watch Macaques cavort and play in their natural habitat.
The closest airport to Ubud is Bali’s Denpasar’s Batubulan Airport, approximately 1 hour away. You can pick up a bemo, (local vans that ply the main routes and pick up whatever passengers they encounter along the way), or bus to make the trip. Public transportation in Ubud consists of bemo, hotel car and walking. You can get to many of the tourist parts of town, including the Ubud Market, on foot. Many hotels offer transportation for their guests. The Ubud Market is a wonderful place to wander through, and the only transportation you’ll need is your own two feet.
