Great view, close to 12A bus stop

Stayed on a 2 night stop on my way to Bangkok. I used to live across the street at #2 McDonnell road when I first moved to Hong Kong. Should be a quick cab ride from the airport express, but the protests made it take forever, in time it will be back to normal. Room I had provided a sensational view both day and night, plenty of storage, bathroom tight, but functional and clean. Room looked somewhat refreshed or remodeled, in other words great! Fine by me, I'm out spending time in the city anyway. Didn't have breakfast with my room, but breakfast in Hong Kong is a little strange anyway. Fitness center was awesome, not glitzy, but had everything and then some if the goal is to exercise. Free weights, machines and treadmills. Pool was alright for cooling off or laying out, but won't win any awards for style. The 12A stop is within like 60 feet of the front doors and that will take you down to central MTR station and then Hong Kong is yours from there. Can easily walk down to Hong Kong park, the Peak tram station and a well stocked grocery store that used to be called park n shop(Bring your own bags) is within 50 yards of the hotel front door. Mentioned the walk down to all those places, the walk up isn't fun. It's doable and don't mind getting sweaty go ahead, but if its afternoon or early evening and you have more plans prepare to need another shower. Hong Kong gets warm, but it's the humidity and not much airflow. I usually gave up right around the Bank of China tower and caught a cab there which is really easy. The meter didn't even roll over to the first increase, its that close, but I'm not walking if I don't really have to. Definitely would stay again, but I want to check some other places similarly priced out in Sheung Wan before I come back.

Hong Kong stop over from Europe

We have stayed here before. Whilst the hotel is getting a little tired, the view over the botanic gardens is lovely. With the traffic on the mid levels now walking on foot is difficult but catching a taxi is easy. The breaky is good value if you want something other than congee or yum cha. The hotel has a no alcohol policy by the pool so if you have ideas of a beer beside the pool forget it and it closes from 5 - 6 pm. Opening times are short. Still excellent value for money.

Family wedding/holiday

Enjoyed stay here. Location great for us - opposite gardens-peaceful and lovely walk through, listening and seeing the animals, birds and plants. Not too far to walk into Central. Only disappointment was the room configuration. We had booked early - in March - and had requested twin rooms. Whilst we understand this is not always possible, we had particularly requested the twin rooms as we had 2 'senior' sisters sharing, and father and 22 year old son (VERY TALL) sharing the other room. It took quite a bit of convincing to at least get one of the rooms changed to a twin room. The TALL son could then stretch out a little when sleeping! Overall, we were satisfied and also enjoyed relaxation in the pool after a LONG day, walking up and down steps, etc. I certainly would recommend this hotel with a 4 out of 5 rating.

Repeat visit

Our 2nd stay at hotel - this time extended family stayed for 1 week for a family wedding (we booked 4 rooms). Convenient location opposite Zoo/Gardens, and within comfortable walking distance to anywhere we wished to go, and added bonus of pool use in humid weather. Rooms very clean, staff courteous, and on-site breakfast availability, and supermarket proximity, very handy. Just a couple of drawbacks - we had specifically requested a cot when we made booking over 2 months ahead, followed up with a phone call to ensure this was probable (this was our first priority when choosing a hotel this time). Though we understood this was not guaranteed, it was disappointing that we were not emailed that a cot, in fact, wasn't available, which caused some difficulties with an already very unsettled, long-travelled toddler. Single beds also were not available in 3 out of 4 rooms, although subsequently an alternative room with single beds was made available for the 6'10'' nephew and his father (recuperating from recent knee replacement), both of whom did not fancy sharing a double bed. We 'made do' with other bedding arrangements - 2 sets of adult sisters needing to share beds. Not ideal, but too difficult to move elsewhere at short notice. However, we nevertheless determined to enjoy the stay, and we did.

Good value

This hotel is in the same neighborhood as the very expensive hotels at a fraction of the price. It's an added bonus that there's a grocery store in the same building.

Great value

The only thing that would make this place better is wi-fi access in the rooms. Although there's wi-fi in the lobby, it is not free which is unusual.

Great hotel! but you will need to take a taxi...

This is a decent business hotel in HK Central. First of all, I have to say that the room is big by Hong Kong standard. It's approximately 25 sqm. with bathtub. The only cons I can think of is the location. You will need to take a taxi to travel back to the hotel as bus service is not always available. Anyway, considering the price, cleanliness, and space provided, we will stay here again.

Great value in a quiet neighborhood

I loved that I was close to Central and yet I was in a neighborhood next to the parks. It's an easy walk to Admiralty and Central.

Convenient, no frills place to stay

This is a good place to stay if you're looking for no frills and need to be located around in mid-levels. The hotel itself offers a comfortable, basic room - on the small side and with limited amenities - staff are friendly enough, efficient rather than overly welcoming. If you don't mind the walk up and down the hill then it's well located for Central but otherwise getting to and from the hotel requires either a taxi or the bus. As Hong Kong hotels are generally expensive, this represents a good alternative, but don't expect more than you pay for.

Confortable and convenient place

A good hotel choice. Large room for Hong-Kong and the location is convenient after you learn how to cross the Botanical garden to go to Soho and Central. Convenient little shop open 24 hours in front of the hotel and a nice western style restaurant just across the street, 8F. Never a problem to get a taxi, max wait: 2 minutes. The only thing one could reproach is the absence of cash machine in the area.
