Great location

We stayed eight nights in a signature room which included breakfast and evening cocktails. The breakfast spread of both Western and Asian food was extensive and enjoyable. We really loved the location of this hotel, just a five minute walk to MTR, the tram or buses. the hotel also provided a shuttle to HK station. Two minor complaints, The bed is just too hard! A smile and a greeting from staff would make all the difference, especially after travelling 20 hours. All in all a very positive experience.

Relaxing Getaway

Exceptional value for money with WIFI included. Room size is big and comfortable, unlike many newer hotels which are quite tiny. It's just 5 mins walk to Fortress Hill MTR and Airport Express Shuttle bus ply between Hongkong Station and the hotel. Will go back to the same hotel for my next trip to HK.

My go-to hotel in Hong Kong

My family and I always stay here at City Garden Hotel because: 1. It is included in the free shuttle route of Airport Express so going to and from the airport is very convenient. 2. Most of our favorite restaurants are around the vicinity of the hotel. Tim Ho Wan (michelin-starred resto serving amazing pork buns) is just like 2 minutes walk from the hotel. The best roast duck and pork bbq rice can be bought in the market just around the corner. We have breakfast at Congee World, which is about 5 minutes away. And the best curry fishball stall is just behind the hotel. 3. There is a Nike outlet store behind the hotel. My nephews and brothers always have a blast shopping there. 4. It is only about 10 minutes walk to the Fortress Hill MTR station. 5. It isn't as crowded as staying in Causeway Bay. I think this is a more residential area of HK since I see a school nearby, a park frequented by locals and there's a wet market nearby. However, one of my sisters do not like staying at City Garden Hotel because it is not directly within the vicinity of an MTR station, unlike hotels like Parklane or Excelsior - which were our go-to hotels before we discovered City Garden. Rooms are regular sized. Service is ok. Nothing great. The people at the check-in counters do not smile but I don't really expect much smiling from people in HK. Check-out is a breeze.

It is not too bad

Close to MTR. Bus stop downstair. Location is good. Room is clean and neat. If the price is right, this is a good value for money hotel.

convenient location, comfortable

We are a family of 4 with two children aged 10 and 14. Staff were always helpful and attentive. Very convenient with public transport on Kings Road (3 minute walk)- bus, tram and MTR. Buy an octopus card that may be topped up. Supermarkets and small restaurants around the area. Rooms were a reasonably good size. Served by free shuttle from Hong Kong Station. We never used the taxi throughout our 6 night stay.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

there is a direct bus to Ocean Park from the Bus stop on Kings Road. (4 min from hotel) But you must tell the bus driver to stop when the bus reaches the nearest point to Ocean park. There are signs to tell you how to walk across the road to the Ocean park entrance. But coming back from Ocean Park, take the bus at the exit to Admiralty. (as there are many waiting to shuttle visitors)

Good location

Don't need to walk far to find places to eat...the hotel rate is much more expensive than the last time we stayed in 2014.

A nice hotel in North Point

We enjoyed our stay in the signature room for 4 nights. Buffet breakfast was good compared to other 4-star hotels. There was a CG club lounge but it was pretty basic, though the staff was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back there next time.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

take the double decker bus from King's Road to Ocean Park direct (without having to go with the crowds on the train to Admiralty MTR ) but you have to tell the bus driver to let you know when to get off the bus. There are signs to tell you how to get to Ocean park. 5 min walk. But when you return, it is advisable to take the official buses from Ocean Park to Admiralty.

Lack luster service

This is the third time we are staying in this hotel, and the longest since we stayed 5 nights. During the previous stays we were impressed with the housekeeping and the service staff at lobby in terms of promptness in helping to open doors and helping with bags. This time some toiletries were not replenished daily, and I had to call housekeeping for more soap, and the complimentary coffee sachets were not replenished daily. The saucer was not washed, since I saw coffee stains on the one that I used. We were given a room on the fourth floor, and it looked smaller than the ones we occupied on higher floors previously. It was only on the last two days that the service staff at lobby reacted with the same efficiency that we have expected. Are they saving costs by cutting down on supplies to the rooms? Frankly I am a little disappointed this time.
