Nymphenburg Palace hotels
Nymphenburg Palace (Schloss Nymphenburg) was established as a summer residence to celebrate the birth of Maximilian Emanuel, the son of Bavaria Elector Ferdinand Maria, in 1664. The palace was designed in the Baroque style by Agostino Barelli. The centre of this grandiose palace looks like a ravishing Italian villa. However, the original architecture has seen a lot of changes due to the palace's being passed down to other Wittelsback rulers with their own style preferences. Visitors who are intrigued with the lifestyle of aristocratic families will find a visit to the palace quite exciting.
- Get a grand tour of Munich's Nymphenburg Palace, which allows you to freely view various sections of the palace including a nice hunting lodge and lavish rooms decorated in Baroque, Rococo, and Neoclassical architecture.
- Visit the Marstallmuseum, located at stable of Nymphenburg Palace, which features ancient carriages and sleighs used by the noble family in historic events held in Munich.
- Roam around the palace's two square kilometre English-style park, which features a lovely canal, two lakes, the Pagodenburg and the Badenburg pavilions, the Amalienburg hunting lodge, and the Neoclassical Apollotemple.
Nymphenburg Palace is located in the western region of Munich and is just a 15-minute drive from the city centre. It is accessible through several motorways that connect Munich to neighbouring areas like Struttgart, Lindau, and Garmisch. Visitors from other sections of Munich can use the S-Bahn (suburban train network), and get off at Laim station. From this station, you can take bus no. 51, which goes to Schloss Nymphenburg. Alternatively, you can take the underground transit service line U1 to Rotkreuzplatz station and ride the tram service no. 12 or 17 to the palace.
