Neue Pinakothek hotels
Neue Pinakothek is a celebrated art museum situated in the Kunstareal area of Munich, Germany. The Neue Pinakothek, along with Alte Pinakothek and Pinakothek der Moderne form the “Big Three” art museums in Munich’s art district. The original museum was opened by King Ludwig I in 1853, but it was destroyed during WWII and rebuilt in 1981 at its current location. Now the Neue Pinakothek features one of the best and most important collections of 18th and 19th century European artwork in the world. The collection ranges from classicism to art nouveau, and includes sculptures as well as paintings.
- Tour the international paintings of the second half of the 18th century collection at Neue Pinakothek to view the important works by such painters as Francisco de Goya and Anton Graff.
- See Munich’s best collection of English paintings from the 18th and 19th centuries including works by Thomas Gainsborough, William Hogarth and David Wilkie.
- Marvel at some of the most acclaimed masterpieces in Munich at the German Classicists Art exhibit at Neue Pinakothek, featuring such artists as Friedrich Overbeck and Peter von Hess.
Munich has a spectacular system of public transportation, so it is easy to get to Neue Pinakothek from just about anywhere in the city. The easiest way to get there is to take the tram and get off at the Pinakotheken stop that is easily within walking distance of all of the museums in Kunstareal. You can also take the U-Bahn to the Konigsplatz or Theresienstrasse station, both of which are within walking distance of Neue Pinakothek. Keep in mind that there are three major museums in this area so plan carefully to try to see them all.
