The Kammerspiele is one of Germany's premiere theatres. Located in Munich along famed Maximilian Street, it was founded in 1911 by Erich Ziegel in Schwabing but moved to Munich in1926. It has been a municipal theatre since 1933. The Kammerspiele is one of the most important theatres in Germany, and it has produced plays by such luminaries as Bertolt Brecht and Max Schreck. Bustling Maximilian Street is no less historically significant than this one-of-a-kind theatre, as many of the area’s most famous attractions preside along this rich thoroughfare, which is famously visited by thousands of holidaymakers year after year. Situated within close walking distance to uniquely stocked boutiques and happening cafes, Kammerspiele is an ideal starting point for an extended exploration of this inimitable city.

- Go see a play at the Kammerspiele's smaller venue, the Werkraum, which features productions by younger actors and directors, and is located on fascinating Hildegardstrasse.
- Visit the Jewish museum on Maximilian Street when the theatre isn't open, which chronicles Jewish life in Munich throughout the centuries.
