Hauptbahnhof is not only the central train station of Berlin but it is one of the hubs of travel in the European Union. Not only can passengers zip around Berlin from the Hauptbahnhof, but they can head to locations as distant as Russia and Kazakhstan as well. The station, which was opened in 2006, has two levels of tracks, but due to the intensity of German efficiency it is still easy to use. It was built on the site of the old Lehrter Bahnhof, which was built in 1871 and later demolished.
- Stroll over to the Reichstag building, which is only about five minutes from Hauptbahnhof, to see the 19th century structure that used to house the parliament of the German Empire.
- Catch a screening of one of Berlin’s top movies, attend a dance party or watch sand being sculpted at Zitty Park, which is near the Hauptbahnhof and is one of the premier open air venues in the city.
- Check out the architecture of the Paul-Lobe house while in Berlin and don’t forget to stroll around the parliamentary library, which is also inside of this attraction.
Since the Hauptbahnhof is the central train station of Berlin, people should not have any trouble getting there, as all paths eventually merge at this location. Nearly every train in Berlin has a stop at the Hauptbahnhof so no matter where the person is they should be able to get there easily as long as they can follow signs. Passengers coming to Berlin from other European cities will almost certainly arrive at this futuristic train station, which is a great introduction to the cleanliness and efficiency of the cities it connects.
