Haidhausen is a residential area located within Munich, Germany. This district lies just east of the city centre is also known as the "French Quarter" because the pattern of its streets is quite similar to those found in France. Haidhausen streets also take their names from various French cities. This is the place where the most popular, lively areas of the city, the Kultfabrik and Ostbahnhof, are located. The former is considered the biggest party zone within Europe and this, along with the other area attractions like the Maximilianeum, is a huge draw for tourists.
- Visit the Maximilianeum, a grand Renaissance-style building located on the banks of the Isar River in Munich, which is home to the Bavarian Landtag, or state parliament.
- Explore the Deutsches Museum, one of the biggest and most famous science and technology museums, located in Haidhausen in Munich.
- Take a trip to the Villa Stuck, a historic house now functioning as a museum, where the art pieces of the 20th century artist Franz von Stuck are displayed in permanent and special exhibits.
It is easy to reach Haidhausen using the public transport system of Munich. If travelling via subway, visitors should stop at either the Max-Weber-Platz or the Ostbahnhof stations. For those that choose to travel with the S- Bahn, the Rosenheimer Platz or Ostbahnhof train stations are closest to Haidhausen attractions. Tram lines 25, 19, 18, and 15 operate within the area. Bus routes also service the district, and numbers 100 and 152 link the district to the greater city centre. Car rental services like Auto Europe, Europcar and Kemwel are available within the city.
