The Amalienburg in Munich is one of the more interesting destinations that travellers are flocking to visit in Munich. The gloss and grandeur of aristocracy is highlighted in this opulent palace found on the grounds of the Nymphenburg, a pristine place as you’ll ever likely see in Germany. The palace’s roots date back to the eighteenth century, and to this day the place still amazes people all ages. Created in the rococo style which is famous across Europe, the Amalienburg is a “hunter’s lodge” with a very elaborate and beautiful selection of rooms including a grandiose hall of mirrors, a kennel room for the hunting dogs, unbelievable bedrooms, and a preserved eighteenth-century kitchen.
- Enjoy the craftsmanship in the carvings of the bedrooms of the Amalienburg which were carved by Joachim Dietrich, one of the most popular artists of his time.
- Visit the Hunting Room to learn about the stunning paintings which were done by Peter Jakob Horemans—visitors will notice how the images depict actual hunts and figures of the household.
- Recognise the intricacy in the blue and white kitchen ceilings and walls, conceived in a rough Eastern manner; imagine the meals prepared of fresh fowl and venison served from the beautiful ovens.
International travellers can get to Munich easily through air travel from several cities. Tourists who live in European cities can also take the train from other destinations if this is the preferred option. Once you arrive in the city, Amalienburg can be reached by car and by using public transport trains such as the S-Bahn and the U-Bahn. The Schloss Nymphenburg is the obvious choice to getting to the palace grounds, but there is also several other train stops along Menzinger Straße, which runs north-south near the palace.
