Trade Fair hotels
The Frankfurt Trade Fair has a very old history. It started off as a harvest fair sometime in the 11th century, with nothing but agricultural products being exhibited. The number and type of products being showcased grew over time, with wine, wool, and books, amongst others being added over time. Frankfurt's stock exchange was actually born as a consequence of the fair. From those relatively humble beginnings, the event has grown to become the third largest in the world, attracting exhibitors from all over the globe. In 2009, the Trade Fair earned over 400 million euros in sales.
- Take a moment to enjoy the 21-metre-high sculpture, known as the Hammering Man, before even entering the Frankfurt Trade Fair grounds.
- Head over to Musikmesse Frankfurt, the event's biggest music show; it is not just the city's most popular, but the world's largest, and a fun way of meeting people from different parts of the globe.
- Head over to Automechanika, the world's largest automotive show, and salivate over some of the hot cars at the exhibition.
The Frankfurt Trade Fair grounds are located at Bockenheim and Westend-Süd Districts, very close to the city centre. There are many ways of getting there. A convenient, but pricey way of getting to the fair is by taxi. These are available almost everywhere in the city, and are thus easy to find. Frankfurt's subway is a cheaper and faster way of getting around, as are trams and buses; these have stops at the fairgrounds. Because of an extensive network of cycle tracks, bicycles remain one of the most popular ways of getting to Trade Fair.
