The Schaubuhne in Berlin is a former cinema theatre known as Universum that was designed by prominent German architect Erich Mendelsohn in 1928. It was renovated after the war by JurgenSawade to become one of the most technically advanced cinema-theatres in Germany. The theatre features a performance space capable of allowing the use of three stages at any given time. The Schaubuhne is located along the famous Kurfurstendamn Boulevard, which hosts some of the most important establishments in the city. The theatre is only one of a few theatres that run programs in English and French regularly.
- Walk the sights of Kurfurstendamn, one of Berlin’s most famous streets, and shop, eat, sightsee, or simply take a stroll around the area.
- Have lunch while watching the Philharmonie Lunch Concert at the grand foyer of the Philharminie, and be treated to an hour of contemporary and classical music by world renowned musicians.
- Visit the Story of Berlin, an interactive museum featuring the history of Berlin. Admission to the museum entitles the guest to a tour of the underground bunker built in 1970.
From the Tegel Airport, guests can take a taxi or rental car or public transport to Schaubuhne, already a historical landmark. Within downtown Berlin, transport is provided by BVG, a public transport company that runs the rapid transit rail system that dispatches its trains every two to five minutes during the day and every ten minutes in the evening and during Sundays. BVG buses also operate day and night and are most accessible in areas not serviced by the rapid transit.
