DDR Museum hotels
The DDR Museum in Berlin is one of the most unique museums in the world, stressing interaction in its exhibits focusing on everyday life. Since 2006, this privately owned museum has offered a unique look at what daily life was like in the German Democratic Republic or GDR. The exhibits in the DDR Museum not only focus on the politics of this dictatorship, but also provide some much-needed context for the German people at those times, assembling a counterbalance to that history. By allowing visitors to touch, feel, and hear the various displays, it is more than just a museum to see, it is a museum to experience.
- Explore the DDR Museum as you touch the tables, sit on the furniture, and open the drawers in various housing arrangements meant to accurately portray life in the GDR.
- Take a virtual ride in an authentic Trabant—or as it is commonly known, Trabi—literally putting you in the driver’s seat of your experience.
- Shop at the gift shop and pick up souvenirs at the DDR Museum such as books, DVDs, and various other memorabilia.
