Brucke Museum hotels
The Brücke museum, which showcases 20th century expressionism, is situated in a tranquil setting in Berlin. Four architecture students, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Fritz Bleyl, Erich Heckel and Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, founded the artists' association, "Brücke", in 1905. These artists and their colleagues wanted to break away from the prevailing traditional art style of the time. They believed in untainted expression via form and colour resembling the Fauves, and expressed their personal feelings. The Brücke Museum’s collection is exclusively dedicated to works of the "Brücke" artists. The collection, which is depicted by its deep violent and emotional imagery, is small but comprehensive.
- The Brücke Museum in Berlin is home to about four hundred (400) sculptures and paintings, as well as numerous thousand prints, watercolours and drawings from the "Brücke" artists.
- Even though this museum in Dahlem, Berlin is small, its artwork is eye-catching and the museum’s surrounding landscape is lush and green with a great gift shop.
- For travellers who are interested in expressionism, the museum’s collection is a show of the unique manner that modernism and expressionism have been intertwined.
The public transport system in Berlin is efficient with a mixture of trams, buses, ferries, the S-Bahn commuter rail, and the underground U-Bahn. Rented cars can also be used but driving is not recommended given that traffic is usually heavy and parking is an intricate issue. Taxis are also plentiful. Cycling, using hired bikes, is also a good and greener way of getting to the museum, which is approximately 15 kilometres from the city centre. This allows visitors to enjoy the lovely sights of the surrounding area when travelling to the Brücke Museum.
