Notre Dame Cathedral hotels
Still the most popular monument in Paris, Notre Dame tops even the number of visitors to the Eiffel Tower, and still operates as a Catholic cathedral in most capacities. Notre Dame de Paris was restored over the end of the twentieth century and the beginning of the twenty-first, making it a newly fresh destination. The delicate job of restoring and cleaning the sculpture and architecture left them glowing in a striking honey-gold. Come visit this historic landmark to marvel in the light from the great rose window rising over the city and the nineteenth century gargoyles protecting the belfries.
- Climb the Notre Dame tower through all parts of the western façade, including the gargoyles in the Galerie des Chimères; the tower has 387 steps and no elevator, so be prepared for a workout.
- Visit the crypt under the Notre Dame Cathedral Square to see the relics found in excavations run by the Paris archaeological and architectural history office.
- Attend Mass at Notre Dame de Paris; there is an international mass with part of the service read in English at 11:00 am on Sundays.
