Ruoholahti, which means Grass Bay, is the best place for those who wish to buy cheap Finnish or overseas items. Located southwest from Helsinki city centre, Ruoholahti, which is close to Lauttasaari Island, has a large shopping centre. Verkkokauppa.com, one of Finland's biggest electronic shops is located in the centre. For duty-free shopping, go on board the Tallink Silja Line Ferry. Nothing beats taking this ferry to explore not just Finland but also Sweden and Estonia, too. Enjoy breathing in the clean sea air and watching typical Nordic scenery of beautiful, grey seas and quaint, little islands.
- Enjoy the beautiful view of the grey sea and small faraway islands whilst you travel aboard the Tallink Silja Line Ferry from Helsinki to Ruoholahti or vice versa; alternatively, you can enjoy the view from aboard this ship after shopping at its large duty-free store or other shops.
- Shop around for some affordable Finnish items at K-citymarket, K-rauta, Alko, and other stores at Ruoholahti Shopping Centre, in Helsinki.
- Grab a takeaway cafe latte and croissant at Blackstorm Gaming Cafe before going up to the building's seventh floor to enjoy the lovely landscape view from there.
The distance from the nearest airport to Helsinki city centre is approximately 20 kilometres. When it comes to transport from the airport, there are a few available options: tram, taxi, train, and bus. If you were to take bus 615, you would reach the city central area within half an hour or so. From there, take tram number 9 and get off at the city's ferry terminal. Then, hop on board the Tallink Silja Line Ferry for a wonderful two-hour journey to Ruoholahti ferry terminal. From there, you can just walk up to the town centre.
