Kallio is a neighbourhood in Helsinki, Finland, situated on the eastern side of the peninsula very close to the city centre. Kallio is separated from the city centre by the natural barrier of the Siltasaarensalmi strait that acts as a symbolic border between the working class Kallio and the more affluent city centre. The small flats and cheap rent have traditionally drawn students and artists to the area, which gives Kallio a distinct Bohemian feel. Kallio is also one of the centres of Helsinki nightlife as the area has a slew of lively bars, sex shops, and strip clubs.
- Catch a contemporary dance performance while in Kallio at the Helsinki City Theatre, where the biggest contemporary dance company in Finland puts on regular performances.
- Listen to live music from one of Helsinki’s top bands at the Club Liberté, where well made cocktails will keep the dance floor filled until late in the night.
- Ride thrilling roller coasters at the Linnanmäki Amusement Park, a collection of rides, games, and entertainment that will be fun for the entire family.
