Terrific beachfront family resort

This terrific resort was steps to the beach with a pool and an award winning restaurant with cultural shows every night. Very Friendly staff, good food, clean modern bures happening bar , breakfast everyday, snorkelling, kayaks and organised daily activities. On the down side it cost an absolute arm and a leg to leave the premises in transport/taxis- $30,$60$100 a time one way if you breathed in that direction! And that was to travel up to only 30 mins away! The resort is a little isolated and set closer to the cane fields and well away from Nadi & Denarau hot spots. Very expensive to visit neighbouring islands as you need a taxi to Denarau first to hop on the cruises. Its a must to visit Vuda Point Marina next door- gorgeous, small yachts, savvy travellers, cheap good food and fantastic view. Pre book accom and tours everything before you leave Australia. It will be cheaper as Fiji has VAT. All in all though, terrific accommodation. Kids are very welcome and honeymooners.

Great Hotel for a few nights in Nadi area!

Very nice hotel, great food. Beautiful garden and great location to watch sunset! We stayed only 2 nights coming back from the islands. Resort makes you feel very safe. It is located only 15 min from the Nadi Airport by taxi/shuttle. If you want to go for a day trip there is a great option going to Oolala island. Just book at a resort store. Very Nice woman Ada will make a booking for you. The boat pick's you up from Resort marina. Nice get away day trip. We liked the First Landing Resort very much! Highly recommended for a few nights stay in Nadi area!

Hidden Treasure

I decided to surprise my wife with a trip away for our anniversary. After plenty of research I settled on Fiji, the next issue was, where in Fiji? I chose First Landing as it was close to Nadi airport (15 min) but, away from the commercialised major resorts. I wanted, and found, something intimate. The night of our anniversary we had a secluded table with beautiful flowers and rose petals on the table cloth. Even our room that night had a flower arrangement on the bed and a 'love' poem written/made from rose petals and flowers to form the words, we didn't ask for any of that but, I took the credit :-). Oh, we were also serenaded, brought a tear to my eye! The attention to detail is outstanding. If you want crowds, noise, televisions and to be a 'guest', stay in Denarau. First Landing made us feel like family. From the moment we arrived at 7am we were warmly greeted. The resort has beautiful sprawling gardens, a lovely clean pool, and very clean and tidy rooms. The rooms aren't modern (no marble or granite basins etc) but, they are spacious and in very good condition with aircon, ceiling fans, tinted windows, insect screens and even a clothes horse for your wet swimmers etc. Trust me when I say you wont miss not having a television. Anyway, if you go on holidays to watch TV there must be something wrong in your life. The value for money is excellent. We stayed in an ocean front spa room with magnificent views. I couldn't imagine using the spa as the South Pacific Ocean is 25mtrs from your door and about 29 celsius! You don't have to leave the resort to eat as Exec Chef Darren is a culinary magician. I think I managed to eat my way through most of the menu, which is extensive and without doubt the best menu you will ever see. It has seafood, pasta, Indian, pizza, steak....and the quality, presentation, flavours and prices cannot be beaten. Chef Darren gets 10/10. You can walk to the Vunda Point Mariner next door and purchase beer, wine, sparkling white, mixers, water etc but be warned as they only take cash and their ATM hit me with an $8.00 service fee. I bank with Westpac and their ATM in Lautoka, which is a 15 min. taxi ride, about $15 each way, slugged me $10.00. I will talk to the bank about that soon. In Lautoka be wary of anyone wanting to give you a gift such as a wooden carving. They'll hand it to you and then ask for $$$ even offering to walk to the ATM with you if you haven't any. No I wasn't scammed, came close though!! Back to the resort, the staff are very friendly and have great personalities. You can swim in the ocean at the resort but the best snorkelling is at one of the nearby islands. We took an 'Oolala' island tour and had a ball, food and drinks were all included and the coral reefs were great. We also went to Bounty Island and the snorkelling there is also very good. First Landing is not the place I would take my kids, it's definitely a place to unwind, de-stress, relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of the modern working life. Make sure you have a massage at their day spa - brilliant stuff. Did I mention how good the food was? *****Do yourself a favour and stay there****, you wont be disappointed. Amanda (GSM) and Darren (Exec Chef) really know their trades and make this the best place in Fiji. Oh, that was my wife's 9th trip to Fiji and our first stay at First Landing. We hope to be back in October. Bula Vinaka.

Speak to Chef Darren if you get the opportunity, his meals are works of art and the tastes will not disappoint. I'm sure he would be more than happy to recommend the best seafood of the day and he was more than happy to give me a few recipes. Brilliant.

The Real Fiji

Relax and enjoy your time in Fiji at First Landing. Genuine staff truly want to make your stay memorable and the management are constantly improving guest facilities to ensure that happens. We have stayed here twice in 2 years and really noticed the improvements. Current managers have just re-signed so hopefully will continue with subtle improvements while retaining the heart & soul of the wonderful place that is First Landing. If you want 5 star luxury with everything modern & pristine - don't come here. If you want to feel like you've found your second home and eat great food - you'll love it here.

Restful, but disappointing.

Having booked a 2 bedroom Villa with pool, we only spent one night there. Moved to 3 bedroom apartmrnt next morning, due to leaking roof. Amazingly though, 2 hours after moving, someone else moved into our Villa. Only explanation we were given was it would take several days to fix the leak.

Not bad, not bad at all.

Before I go further, I need to say we didnt actually spend much time at the resort. We checked in, then went on a evening island trip, then arrived back late. Then the next day we were on a full day trip & arrived back in the evening, just in time for a late dinner. Because of this, we didnt use the amentities such as ppol or snorking gear or kayaks, but the kayaks looks a bit dated... The breakfast menu looked good & cheap! but we didnt have time to wait so stuck with our inclusive continental breakfast, which was pretty standard, definatley nothing to complain about. On the night we ordered dinner, we ordered steaks, it was great value for money, like a mid-range NZ/AU restaurant standard meal, similar costs/maybe cheaper. While the steaks were a bit rare when asked for medium & medium rare, I wouldnt complain about it. We had constant service (people asking if we had ordered etc). And the choir/& guitar/singing after that was great entertainment! loved that. well done. Location in terms of setting on beach front & mini lagoon was cool. A treat view from the bar & seating areas. Only fault about the location was that when we were going on our organised trips, it was quite far to go back to Denerau, and on one trip, they wouldnt pick us up, so we had to pay a taxi to get to a closer hotel/resort. But the taxis F/Landing organised for us were always cheaper & friendlier than any other company we used. The room was clean, & a decent size. Wish we actually had more time to just hang out at First Landing. It was a lot more relaxed & casual felling that the other 4-5 star resorts we stayed at or saw, but has rooms that are just as big/clean, and food that is just as good, if not better, at a fraction of the cost. Def choose this if you want a 4 star feeling & if you want a step or two up from the cheaper back-packy & airport type places.

Might be worth hiring a car if you stay here & want to go to on trips. If you use shuttles that trips organise for you, you spend a lot of time waiting around. And if you only do one trip out of this resort a day ($60 return at least), a hire car may be cheaper & save yo a lot of waiting around time!

This resort had become very run

This resort had become very run down, but the new manager, is obviously trying to rectify this by making good use of the resorts location and its ability to be proactive in making events 'happen'! We were fortunate to be staying when multiple island dancers were there, including the fire jugglers. This made for memorable evenings. I wont dwell on minor things, since these were being sorted out, the manager knows her business, I hope she will be backed by the owners!! the staff are just great, still retaining that wonderful desire to welcome all guests and make their stay memorable. PLEASE PUT SOME CHILD SIZE LIFE JACKETS into the Island boats, vinaka.
