Stay elsewhere

I've been to Fiji several times and this hotel is basically not worth the money. The staff are not particularly concerned with guest satisfaction and constantly playing loud inappropriate music at meal times and there's way too many loud obtrusive games around the pool. Not a relaxing stay at all and there's so many better options in Fiji at this price point. We heard the same complaints from loads of guests, they overcharge for every little aspect of your stay and then when approached about an issue they pretty much ignore you.

Great family resort

We stayed in a beachfront Vila for our honeymoon, and it was the best deal we have ever had, awesome views and lovely room. It's a perfect place for family to getaway, lots of activities in the resort daily, great plans for kids too. Facility slightly dated, staff are very helpful. The location is a bit of remote, far away to the town and port, the bus stop is by the gate, but bus only operates during the certain time frame.

Bus stop by the gate, take the express bus to nadi or Suva direction, only cost about 8fjd, it's much cheaper than taking a taxi.

Great all round place to stay

We stayed at the Fiji Hideaway for 4 nights in May 2013. Even though the weather was terrible most of the time, we still enjoyed our stay. Because of the weather we didn't participate in as many activities as we would have liked, but there were certainly a lot on offer - snorkelling (not the best ever but a decent amount of fish and coral), kayaking, pool, spa, mini golf, table tennis, pool and some organised activities like volleyball and happy hour games. Look for the horse riding and massage on the beach! They also have lots of paid tours on offer. We loved the kids club and the fact that is was only A$3/hour to hire a babysitter for our son so we could relax - the babysitters were all lovely and when on a couple of occasions they were late, the hotel staff filled in until they arrived. The beach is nice - especially for wandering along at low tide or sunset - but isn't exactly sparkling white sand. Pool is good with a slide and toddlers area. The food was reasonable, not top quality but the breakfasts in particular were extensive, and the desserts were all gourmet. I found the vegetarian mains to be limited. Drinks weren't cheap but the happy hour specials were good and you can get a drink package if you plan to buy a lot. Rooms were nice and spacious and clean, beds were not that comfortable but not too bad. We had a free upgrade to a beachfront cabin which was lovely to watch the sea. All the staff were friendly and helpful and a few even knew our names after only a few days. The evening entertainment was good, ranging from a cabaret night to a local choir, and there were always a few guys around playing music at mealtimes and near the pool. Overall we would definitely come back here and would recommend it! While we stayed it seemed to cater more for families and larger groups, not so many young people/backpackers, so there wasn't much night life to speak of.

Kid Friendly Resort

My 5YO daughter and I were treated like family by the lovely staff at Fiji Hideaway. We were only in Fiji for 4 days so we ended up staying at the resort, chilling out the whole time. My daughter loved the swimming pool and would have stayed in it all day if I let her. I would have liked it better if it were heated, but it wasn't too cold. :) The meals were very nice, especially the free breakfasts. Nightly entertainment was lively and fun. Kids activities were good, but some things were rained out - of course out of the organisers' control. This is being picky, but it would have been nice to have a TV in the room for those rainy days and nights. Also the WiFi signal was very weak, but that's also not very important in the grand scheme. Resort is quite a long way from the airport, plan on 90 minutes drive with a coach or about 2 hours on the express bus. But what a beautiful setting it is - well worth the wait. Vinaka to everyone at Fiji Hideaway!!

To get to the Hideaway take the coral sun bus from airport- only $16 Fijian each way ( 7.30am or 1.00pm) or if times don't suite take mini bus from airport for even less per person! Dont get caught out on the inflated rates some local people will add on if your not careful! Check with the helpful staff at the Nadi airport,

What a pleasant surprise!

Be prepared for the 90 minute to two hour drive. After a warm Fijian welcome, and quick check-in I was shown to my room - deluxe oceanfront bure. The outdoor shower was a pleasant surpsie - a touch of fivestar luxury. And these are also in the standard Frangipani Bures too, not just the upgraded rooms. Disappointed that I wasnt offered an all-inclusive package upgrade on arrival, but I was on there for a couple of nights. If you are staying longer it is well worth paying the extra to have your meals and drinks included. Excellent staff.

Organise a massage or your horse-riding at the little hut to the right of the resort (when facing from the beach). FJD50 for an hour massage - heaven!

second half of family getaway

we broke our stay into two bookings. this is second report. Kids saw turtle on their dive intro outside the reef. While some aspects of the trip were expensive, we made up for that by booking through this site (less than half cost of other family members) and the breakfast included was certainly well worth it! The best meal in the restaurant was the omelet at breakfast. Recommended to relax, get a masage beside the resort (not in it) visit pub across the road for a curry & beer, walk the beaches to the local village, etc. Shark Dive was best ever... with Aqua Trek, Beqa. AWESOME! Masage to left of hotel (walk along beach left from hotel & beside it is the masage hut. (towards Suva). awesome holiday.

awesome family getaway

The hotel is tired, however staff make up for what the hotel lacks. Fiji Time is certainly aparent, but we had an awesome time. Food was reasonably bland and expensive, and the room was tired. Most time was spent on day trips or at the beach with family. Went to Sand Dunes - AWESOME! sigatoka was ok, with a great meal had on the roundabout at both the curry house (down stairs) or restaurant overlooking the river & bridge. We snorkelled over the reef and saw sharks, sea snakes & fish. That was awesome. we did it several times.
