Novotel, Nadi

Close to airport, fairly quiet despite it being on the main road as it is up on the hill. Free shuttle to airport. Nice pool area, nice restaurant, nice but not outstanding lobby. Shops in hotel very expensive. Rooms old but quite comfortable.

Food was dire

The rooms are OK in size but ordinary - bed was a reasonable size. Our clock radio didn't work, and the refrigerator kept me awake half the night making dreadful crackling noises. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and it was terrible - took about 70-80 minutes to be served and the meals were inedible. Its convenient for the aiport, but thats really all you can say about it.

Take your own food

Because the food in the hotel is extremely expensive and almost inedible. I ordered tempura fish and chips. The batter was so tough it was hard to cut through it with a knife and the fish was dry. The chips were tired and limp. Breakfast (not included) was Sydney prices for a really really dreary buffet with little choice of anything. Yuch! Oh and watch the internet too - that is very pricey. The only reason to stay there is if you need to be near the airport. But there have to be better options!

Time-saving tip: Long walk from hotel

Your room! Mine was nearly 400 metres from the dining room. Insist on a room as close to the 'centre' of the hotel as you can get.

Twenty-Four Hour Layover? This is an ideal option.

We stayed at the Novotel Nadi Airport for approximately 36 hours while we were awaiting a flight to LAX. We wanted a hotel that was decently close the airport and had clean, comfortable rooms. We weren't looking for a resort experience or anything that would be considered Fijian holiday. We simply wanted somewhere to rest and recuperate before our twelve hour flight. This hotel was perfect for that purpose, but perhaps for nothing more. The rooms were relatively clean, but outdated and bare-boned. Because of the age of the building, it seems to be hard (especially in the bathroom) to keep a property like this looking as clean and crisp as a Novotel should. The housekeeping staff appear to do the bare minimum to maintain enough cleanliness so that the hotel retains it's 3. 5 or 4 star rating. I wouldn't want to stay in this hotel for more than two nights, though it DOES seem better than many if not most of the airport hotels on offer. Bypass the buffet breakfast, but make sure to order one of the fantastic fish dishes they offer on their room service menu. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was, aside from the breakfast. We can't say enough good things about the hotel reception staff who epitomized Fijian warmth and hospitality. It's doubtful that we'll ever be staying in Fiji again, but if we do return for a long layover, we'll probably give the Novotel another try.

Good Hotel for the Price

Had a short stop-over only whilst travelling with a group, the facilities were good, however the rooms although standing up quite well for their age is in need of some maintenance (eg noisy A/C, bathroom tiling needs tidying up), can't speak more highly of the staff who were very courteous and organised (not something that is always guarranteed in the islands). Overall good hotel close to the airport and good value for the price.

BED BUGS

Interesting place the Novotel Nadi. The rooms are a bit musty smelling, but I guess that's to be expected with a climate like they have in Fiji and with all the rain they'd expereienced prior to our arrival. The renovation seems to have been a bit of a do-over not really thoroughly done. Breakfast was plentiful but a little soggy if you get there late. Room service is expensive and very mediocre. The biggest issue was the bed bugs that attacked the 2 occupants of one of the beds in our room. I notified management when we returned as we didn't realise they were bed bug bites until the afternoon when we went to the doctor on our arrival home. That was over a month ago and I am still awaiting a reply. BEWARE of room 819!

Never Again

The Novotel is a fairly decent Hotel in a good spot so close to the Airport, but our visit was spoiled when staff would not honour a breakfast deal, despite paying for it. No amount of pleading helped so we went without. We will look elsewhere on our next trip to Fiji.

We used the Novotel Nadi to "Leap-Frog"

We used the Novotel Nadi to "Leap-Frog" out to various areas in Fiji - and for this, it was exceptional. Nadi main street we found tiresome, with a ridiculous number of Sword-Sellers, Shopkeepers and Salespeople trying for for custom/money. One set of people we spoke to were chased while driving their hire car through the main street, by someone trying to sell their wares! Hence, the excellent location of the Novotel Nadi (about 10-15 minutes drive from this area), and wonderfully handy to the airport, which offers flights and bus pick-ups from straight out the front, for both north and south-bound routes. The South Seas Cruises (services the Mamanuca Island group) also offers a courtesy pick up from this hotel. The Novotel also has an excellent restaurant, with delicious food, at fairly reasonable rates. The staff were lovely all round...we would definitely stay here again. Excellent value for money!
