Statni Opera hotels
The Statni Opera, or State Opera, in Prague was developed in the late 19th century in response to the growing Austral-Hungarian population and their desire for a German theatre as an alternative to the National Theatre. However, the arts were pushed aside during war times, and the building was instead used for military meetings. After World War II, the theatre returned with a Czech focus, and was then incorporated into the National Theatre for a while under the Communist government. The Statni Opera finally regained its independence in 1990. Now, many shows are performed on here, including operas and ballets.
- Pick up a copy of The Prague State Opera: A History of the Theatre in Pictures and Dates, which is a text detailing the tragedies and triumphs of the Statni Opera.
- Take a tour of this wonderful building, which will allow you to see the beautiful architectural details up close, and discover the technology behind the stage floor and theatre lighting.
- Go out in style and enjoy an evening out at the opera in Prague; you can see some of the best performers in the world acting out popular shows like Rusalka, Carmen, and Don Quixote.
