Powder Tower hotels
One of the many highlights worth visiting in Prague is the 65-metre-high Gothic tower located on the edge of Old Town known as the Powder Tower or Powder Gate. It is considered to be one of the city’s most important medieval monuments and marks the beginning of the Royal Way, an important pathway within the city that leads to the viewing of historical architecture and landmarks of Old Town and the section called "Lesser Town." Dating back to 1475, the tower was built as a gate and acts as a connector to the rest of the city.
- See the Guinness Book of World Records-listed, largest ancient castle, called "Prague Castle," which was the known residence of Kings of Bohemia, Emperors, presidents, and the Czech crown jewels.
- Learn about and visit the UNESCO-declared world heritage city centre of Prague, for notable attractions such as the Gothic Tyn Church or Astronomical Clock, Josefov, New Town, the Baroque-style convent called "Loreta," and castle Vysehrad.
- Visit other historical landmarks such as the Old Town Bridge Tower, located near the Powder Tower at the Charles Bridge and St Vitus Cathedral.
Powder Tower and Old Town can only be reached by powered tram or metro, as public buses do not run in the historical districts of the city. There are three subway lines and a number of trams, buses, and trains that run within Prague. The city is also considered to be a very walking- friendly city. International travellers can enter the city by arriving at Ruzyne International Airport. The airport is located 20 kilometres from the city’s centre and express shuttles, buses, and taxis are all available to bring visitors to the heart of it all.
