New Town hotels
New Town, built in the 1300s, was designed as the centre of activity in Prague. Having endured a lot of destruction in the late 1800’s, the area was rebuilt and remains the largest square in the city. A mosaic of art and architectural styles, New Town has a variety of activities, attractions and shops to appeal to any visitor. Quaint eateries and restaurants like Café Fresco and Pivovarksy Dum where you can sip a coffee or eat local cuisine are nestled between other attractions. Spend some time browsing the area museums like Mucha Museum and the National Museum.
- Walk along the river and through Wenceslas Square to browse the statues around Prague’s National Theatre, including the statue of St. Wenceslas and other patron saints of the Czech Republic.
- Climb to the top of the tower at New Town Hall in Prague for a beautiful view of the square before touring the history and art exhibits within the hall.
- Satisfy your curiosity about the interesting architecture of the Dancing House, inspired by Ginger and Fred Astaire, by visiting this modern oddity.
To get to New Town, take the Yellow Line B metro to Karlovonamesti. Line A and Line C of the metro also run through New Town. Many of the trams have stops on the square and around the town. All attractions in the area are within walking distance from one another. Old Town, an equally popular attraction in Prague is also close by. Tours of the district and all the attractions within it are offered by companies like Prague Grand City Sightseeing Tour and Best of Prague Walking Tour.
