National Museum hotels
Originally built in 1818, the National Museum is one of the most culturally significant attractions in all of Prague. Visitors who appreciate learning about the history of the city can get a deeper understanding of early times by spending a day exploring this sprawling facility. Operated by the government since 1949, the National Museum features six separate units, each one focusing on a specific area of local and regional historical artefacts. Within the building, guests can also view temporary exhibitions that are available for viewing on a rotating basis.
- Walk through the Prehistory and Protohistory Department at the National Museum to get a look at some of the remaining art from the Greek and Roman Empires.
- Tour the Numismatics Department to see an extensive collection of over 500,000 coins and monetary units used in and around Prague in the past.
- Gain a new appreciation for the performing arts in Prague by browsing the National Museum’s Theatre Department to see costumes and stage props from early theatre productions.
The city of Prague is serviced by Ruzyne International Airport. Since most international visitors will fly into Ruzyne, the city has provided several ways for tourists to reach the city from the terminal. The city bus service offers several routes to travel to the downtown area or to connect with the metro subway system. Getting to the National Museum from the airport is relatively straightforward. After connecting with the underground metro, tourists can take either line A or C directly to the facility. Tram passengers can take the number 11 route to the National Museum.
