National Gallery hotels
The National Gallery in Prague is a vast collection of art located mostly in the iconic Veletržní Palác building in central Prague. In addition to the large number of works from well known Czech and Slovak artists, the National Gallery houses an impressive international collection that includes works from Picasso, Monet, and Austrian masters Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt. The National Gallery was started in the late 18th century by Bohemian middle-class intellectuals, who hoped to broaden the scope of artwork in Prague. It has since blossomed into the most important centre for fine arts in the Czech Republic.

The National Gallery is spread over several locations in central Prague, all very near the city centre, so getting there is not difficult. Prague boasts very efficients public transportation in the form of a subway, as well as street level trams. The Pražský hrad station is the most central stop, from which most National Gallery buildings are within walking distance. Tram 22 also has several stops in the area that are easily within walking distance. Prague is a city made for pedestrians, and ambling along the winding medieval streets is one of the most enjoyable activities.
