Charles Bridge hotels
Visitors to the historic city of Prague in the Czech Republic will undoubtedly stroll across the iconic Charles Bridge, a central hub of the city and one of its most enduring symbols. The 14th century stone bridge is lined with ornate statues and is the main pedestrian route connecting the Old Town with the Lesser Town and Prague Castle. The bridge was the brainchild of King Charles IV and was designed by architect Peter Parler in the mid-1300's. After hundreds of years, the bridge still offers visitors fairy-tale views of the skyline. Enjoy the views with throngs of locals and tourists as you stroll by the street musicians and artists.
- Take your sweetie by the arm and enjoy a romantic stroll across the bridge at sunset, as the locals do.
- Amble across the Charles Bridge towards Prague Castle, which overlooks the city and boasts a lavish façade dating back to medieval times.
- Take the bridge to Lesser Town Square, where you can marvel at the Baroque buildings and the incredible St. Nicholas Church.
Enter the city by way of the Prague Ruzyne Airport, about 17 kilometres north of the city centre. There are no metro or train connections from the airport, but there is bus service. Getting to the city centre from the Prague Airport can be expensive, so negotiate a taxi fare ahead of time. Once in town, visitors will find that Prague is well connected by trams and an efficient subway that stops at many locations around the Charles Bridge and runs until midnight. Prague was built for pedestrians and so travellers can feel comfortable exploring the winding maze of cobblestone streets day or night.
