Oriental Pearl Tower
Rising 468 meters above the banks of the Huangpu River, the Oriental Pearl Tower is perhaps Shanghai’s most famous landmark. Instead of creating another grandiloquent TV tower, the designers of this world-renown and inimitable structure were commissioned to, and succeeded in creating, something transcendental. Included on the tower are two giant spheres that stand out artfully from its smaller spheres, creating a cutting-edge and one-of-a-kind take on futuristic architecture. Home to top-notch eateries, a piano bar, entertainment centres, and a disco hall, the Oriental Pearl Tower famously charms thousands of returning holidaymakers year after years, a genuine masterpiece of design and attraction. The Oriental Pearl Tower’s unparalleled views are simply unforgettable—don’t visit Shanghai without them.
- Visit the Oriental Pearl Tower’s observation deck for one-of-a-kind views of Shanghai’s skyline before enjoying a delightful meal at the tower’s revolving restaurant.
- Join a tour of the Shanghai History Museum in the tower’s basement and discover interesting insights into the city’s rich history and culture.
- Enjoy a 3-D movie inside the tower’s theatre before exploring Bliss Square and the charming Piano Bar.
The oriental Pearl Tower can be accessed via ferryboats—namely, the Taigong and Lujin Lines. A number of buses transfer passengers to the towers everyday. A maglev train, one that doesn’t use wheels but rather acts as a levitation system, transfers passengers from Pudong airport to the city in minutes, covering a distance of thirty kilometres. The Subway Line 2 can then take passengers directly to the tower from the Lujiazui Station.
