Great getaway

This hotel is in a great location. Close walking distance to tons of shopping, bars, restaurants and culture, but still in a pretty quiet location. The staff was friendly and helpful and the rooms were kept clean. I would definitely stay here again.

Perfect!

It was our first time in Montreal, and we really wanted a hotel that was comfortable, economical, close to the subway ... really, we found it all. Hotel St-Denis was just a couple of blocks from the hub of the metro and an easy walk to restaurants and fun bars. The price could NOT be beat, along with a low parking rate in a safe, close garage. The room was large enough to store our luggage and have space to get ready and to lounge. The rooms were also very clean, and every member of staff we encountered was helpful. We originally planned to stay just two nights, but ended up loving the city and the hotel so much we stayed for four! This is the hotel you want to stay at if you like a lively part of the city that's close to the subway, universities, bars and restaurants, and you want a comfortable, clean hotel for a great price.

Lovely place

I am so glad I booked this hotel instead of a hostel. I think it is a great place for a great price. The staff was helpful, pleasant and spoke good English. Very clean. Fast elevator. The bathroom had the hottest water I have ever experience. It was immediately HOT every time I turned it on, no waiting time for it to warm up! I have NEVER had that happen ANYWHERE! Large tub, had no trouble stretching legs out fully. I loved the mini fridge in the closet, made great use of it. Had no issues with the free wifi (love that it was free). Many of the cable channels were not available such as natgeo. But I don't go on vacation to watch tv so it wasn't a big deal. Also, you do have to pay for parking which is very close, right around the corner in an underground garage. But from what I saw walking around Montreal it was well priced at 16CAD/day. I wonder if they ever run out of spots because it seemed I took the last reserved hotel spot and the hotel wasn't at full capacity. They give you a special plastic card to get in and out of the parking garage which I disliked because it's another card to keep track of and I misplaced it while packing up and freaked out until I found it. My final issue was that you have to walk through a really shady area to get the port area. Literally an outdoor homeless sleeping area. But surprisingly I was never bothered (e.g. asked for money) by any of the people the multiple times I walked by and I'm a single younger female. And the hotel itself is in a safe college area so it's not a reason to downgrade the hotel itself. Metro is a block away. The hotel also has a large blue sign high up on the side of the building which was VERY helpful due to being easy to spot a couple of blocks away. Recommended and will stay again if I'm in Montreal.

Great first time in Montreal!

My husband and I had a wonderful trip to Montreal, our stay at hotel St. Denis was great. Staff were really helpful and reliable, when checking out they were running through the stairs to give us back some items that we had forgotten. The room was really clean and the old doors were nicely painted, the only thing that was somehow bothering was the sound of the air conditioner. Definitely we'll go back!

Great hotel

I was expecting the hotel to be so-so, and it was really great! I got a good deal considering the location close to the major subway station--very convenient. I was able to check in before 3 PM, but even if you can't there are lockers available to store your luggage in the meantime.

Small hotel in centre of Montreal

Very good location in the theater scene of Montreal and old Montreal was also easy accessible. Too bad that the hotel didn't have breakfast, but there was ample breakfast opportunity in the street. Parking was a bit expensive, but was on a safe location.

First Trip to Canada w 4 Children

Waited a long time (10 minutes) at front desk, staff was no where to be found. Nothing extra here at all. No amenities, except for ice. Staff was not all that helpful in explaining locations/recommendations of restaurants either. Just not that friendly (and we found that all other Montreal natives were wonderful). We were told to walk 2-3 blocks and we'll find something we like. You aren't even provided with a small pad of paper and a pen. Just wasn't expecting such a basic hotel. Parking was expensive but worth it. We liked that we were within walking distance to Old Montreal. For us... breakfast would have made all the difference. I'm not asking for it to be complimentary or even provided by the hotel, but when we asked we were told the closest place is atleast a 10 minute walk. With several young children this wasn't ideal for us. I'd likely try a different hotel if we were to return.

Good clean no-nonsense Hotel

For the price a great comfortable enough way to experience Montreal. Having said that I wish the parking were free...but still this hotel was worth it.
