What travelers to Mont Tremblant are saying
The Mont-Tremblant Rundown
Mont-Tremblant is a place that takes adventure and excitement to the limit. With 92 ski runs ranging from the longest ski run in Quebec to easy beginner courses, the slopes at Mont-Tremblant have enough variety and excitement to challenge even the experienced skier. A holiday in this part of the world is all about outdoor activities, and it’s no surprise that Mont-Tremblant has become a favourite destination for lovers of the great outdoors. The snow skiing and snowboarding opportunities are a strong drawing card for tourists, but when the snow melts, there’s still a world of activities to explore.
In winter, expeditions and activities include ice fishing, ice climbing, snowmobiling, and dog sledding, and in summer there’s lots to do with rock climbing, water sports, golf at La Bete and Le Diable golf courses, rafting and horseback riding. If you’re feeling like a winner, place a bet and catch the entertainment at the Casino de Mont-Tremblant, and for a little something to remind you of your holiday, there are a range of specialty shops in town to browse through. For a family friendly holiday in a stunning natural location, Mont-Tremblant has all the elements for relaxation, fun and excitement.
When To Go
Mont-Tremblant, as a mountainous ski location, has an almost arctic climate. It can reach lows of -15°C (5°F) at its coldest, so be sure to dress appropriately. The wind chill factor can cause considerably lower temperatures, so observe common sense when enjoying outdoor activities. Summer highs can be around 27°C (81°F) with the average closer to 21°C (70°F) and lows of around 13°C (55°F), but this season in Mont-Tremblant is quite short, from May to September.
For fresh powder, the best months are December and January. If you’re keen for the challenge, the golf courses in summer make for a holiday with that certain je ne sais quoi.
- Mont-Tremblant freezes in winter with an average of -6°C (21°F), whilst summer averages around 21°C (70°F).
- Go in December and January for fresh powder, or March and April for scenery.
- Beware cotton garments in sub zero temperatures. Dress appropriately.
La Macaza, Mont-Tremblant’s International Airport, hosts limited chartered flights from the US and Canada, and is around 40 minutes by shuttle or taxi away from the resort. It may be more convenient to fly to Montreal Trudeau Airport and make use of the shuttle service to the resort, or alternately a bus leaves Montreal daily for Mont-Tremblant.
There’s a local bus service that runs between the resort and the nearby village of Saint-Jovite, but the resort is small enough to walk around so public transport is limited. If you’re driving, Mont-Tremblant is just two hours north of Montreal, and this option allows convenient travel between attractions. For the adventurous, helicopter flights over the local area can be booked. Remember your camera!
- La Macaza International Airport and Montreal Trudeau Airport service Mont-Tremblant.
- A local bus service operates to nearby villages.
- Ski lifts are open November to April.
Mont Tremblant General Information
A short and beautiful 130 km drive north of fabulous Montreal, Mont Tremblant is one of the most popular four seasons resorts in North America. While the village is a hive of activity from November to April, the linchpin hub of the vast Laurentians in the province of Quebec thrives in summer as well. From world-class championship golf to lakes, adventure sports to spas, Mont Tremblant is where Montrealers and indeed, more and more waves of international visitors, go to frolic and relax.
As the de facto playground and leisure resort for Montreal’s vast metropolitan area of close to 4 million people, Mont Tremblant is virtually synonymous with ski slopes and cottage country charm in the big city. The inherent municipality of 9,000 people is, for the most part, secondary for visitors who come first and foremost for Mont Tremblant Ski Resort. The tidy village at the base of the mountain is awash with hotels big and small, luxury condos, shops, restaurants, cafés and bars. While especially abuzz when the powder is perfect, as a well-oiled four seasons resort machine, Mont Tremblant’s allure is ceaseless.
