One of the most unique and interesting historic area in Toronto is the Distillery District. This quaint district spans several square blocks in downtown Toronto is one of North America’s largest collections of industrial architecture from the Victorian era. It was originally part of the world famous whiskey distillery, Gooderham and Worts, which was founded in the nineteenth century. The brick-lined streets that make up the 13-acre Distillery District was designated a Canadian historic site in 1988. In recent years, the area has been redeveloped into a vibrant and welcoming Mecca where visitors can shop, dine, enjoy the theatre, or visit an art gallery right in the heart of downtown Toronto.

Getting to the Distillery District in Toronto can be quite easily done, depending on what mode of transportation you choose. For those who prefer public transportation there are several choices. Buses 65A, 72 or 172 will get you there quickly, and the King streetcar #504 also runs into the area. If you decide to travel by car, the Gardiner Expressway will be your best way to get there safely and quickly. You can take the Jarvis Street exit north to Front Street then go east to Parliament where you will head south before going left onto Mill Street and into the Distillery District. This area should definitely be part of your tour of clean, beautiful Toronto.
