Average, expensive water

We stayed at this hotel last year, in standard rooms. I decided to book again this year in Superior rooms, as it was handy to grab a complimentary coffee before we leave every morning. The coffee in reception has been taken away, and the superior rooms were exactly the same as standard rooms, and I cannot tell what the extra money is for. I asked to check what type of rooms they are, and they confirmed they were standard rooms. I said that we had booked superior rooms, and then they said actually they were superior rooms. I feel we have been conned, especially also for the water from the minibar, which was charged at €5 for a small bottle. The hotel has no personality, no customer service, but is really handy for Brussels City Centre.

Nice hotel and location, but ...

... the air conditioning was not working satisfactory ... and 20 EURO for the breakfast is FAR to much! Especially in Belgium, where the breakfast standard generally is much lower than in Sweden where I live.

Details. Details.

I ordered a room with a queen bed and ended up with two singles. I paid for my parking, but staff failed to give me or advise me that I needed a token to drive out so I had to run from the parking to the lobby leaving my car at the garage door. The cleaning of my room was not done by 3:30 in the afternoon so I came back to a dirty room and ended up taking a walk while the job got done. Just little things, but avoidable. Location is still great and weekend value was a plus. Room service charge of 4.50 on top of an already overpriced menu? ...not a plus.

Average business hotel

The hotel is OK, my room was rather small but had space enough for work. The interior is getting little tired and could use a fresh up, bed was OK, free internet for 24 hours with acceptable speed. Didn't try the breakfast as it was a bit expensive (22 Euro), went out to the next coffee shop for that. This is more business hotel than family (with kids) hotel in my view.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Try the street Rue Jordan, many restaurants of different quality and price but well worth the visit. And a small gem is also nearby, Bosquet 58, at Rue Bosquet 58. Very good food at good price.

Small room

Good hotel in which I have stayed many times, but this time I got a very small room. Even not room for the chair in front of the desk, I had to sit on the bed. I use hotel rooms as my remote office so this was too bad.

I know I should have read better,

I know I should have read better, but I read that the was an internet service in the room, and in fact there was, but I had to pay for it... In many other hotel the internet in the room was for free, so I was surprised. All the other aspects were very good, just a bit of a cue at the reception when I was checking out, could that be avoided?

Reception understaffed. As in

Reception understaffed. As in many hotels in Brussels - by the way, capital of Belgium - you have to be very lucky to find someone at the reception speaking Dutch - by the way, most spoken language in Belgium. At the restaurant, during breakfast, very loud and indiscreet personel, arguing about internal problems. Level of one of the popular "brown cafés" of Brussels, not of a 4 star hotel. Avoid the rooms on the front of the hotel, the Chaussée de Charleroi beeing VERY loud.
