Bad surpirise

Don't go there on base prices unless you expect to sleep in a noisy maids room. I guess it can be very nice if you spend the money and book a suite but that wasn't our case. It also takes forever to get your car back from Valet, even if the personnel is really nice. In general the personnel is attentive.

Disappointing

On paper and on photos all is good. The real life experience is not the same. Even though the staff is fantastic and is really getting our of their way to help, the rooms themselves are too small, in a bad maintenance state. Not what you expect from a 5 stars Hotel. More like a 3 star with the price of a 5... Valet parking is friendly but totally inefficient. You need to chase the valet and wait for the car way too long. If you want to stay there I guess the only right decision is to take one of their sumptuous suites- and pay for it-. Will not return.

Historic luxury hotel

Beautiful hotel from 1895! I enjoyed every minute of the stay. Fantastic lobby and a very good restaurant in the ground floor. The room was large, comfortable and clean. There is also a very nive tearoom in Indian style where they serve breakfast..

Gorgeous hotel, fabulous city

Love Brussels and the hotel metropole made it really special. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good and the food in the hotel excellent. The location was pretty central but maybe be time I would try staying nearer to the royal palace or grand place as we found ourselves walking over there daily. Overall great value at £260 for 3 nites.

Family Vacation

The stay was for 3 nights the room was of very good size for European hotels and was very clean but dated. We had a room on the front and the noise level was very loud be sure to ask for a room on the back. The staff as a whole was good but Cedric at the desk was very good and helpful. The hotel is central to most tourist things. We did not eat so I cannot comment.

Over rated for a 5 * hotel

This is never a 5 * hotel in my humble opinion. Other then the location, I will not recommend this hotel to people visiting Brussels. The external looks grand but the interior is quite 'run down' (at least for my room). Not to mention the super slow 256k internet connection with very bad reception. For a paid upgrade will bring you to 512k!!! At times, I can only connect when go to the toilet which is near to the corridor. No slipper, shaver kit and lotion offered in the bath room... the only win to this booking will be the location and a rather big room offered.

Not a real 5*

Although the location in Brussels city was a central one and just on the site access to Metro, downdown and most important sights, the room provided for my booking seemd to be in a separate wing of the hotel and of an inferior class. It resempled a moderate 3* hotel rather than a luxurious 5* I initially thought I had booked. At that price and image a 4* could be more comfortable, modern and pleasant to stay place.

Once Grand hotel without a heart and soul.

Grand hotel without a heart or soul; Grand victorian style but apart from lobby and reception and a rather peripheral restaurant the hotel had no heart and soul. A finely decorated grand style bar was seemingly being renovated so that may have made a difference but the section of the frontage given over to a tacky casino rather spoilt the image & apperance. Room was fine but could not sleep with open windiow due to the traffic noise. Breakfast was expensive at €28 and really poor - fresh fruit consisted of chopped apple and could not even deliver genuine full sized croissants cooked brerakfast was best left; Staff friendly enough but overall hotel a disappointment. Redeeming feature was ideal location.
