Wiener Konzerthaus hotels
The Wiener Konzerthaus was opened in 1913 as a public concert hall. For the past 100 years, it has drawn a broad audience into its art nouveau building in the centre of Vienna. Richard Strauss composed the opening performance of “Festliches Präludium,” which was performed in the presence of Emperor Franz Joseph I. Since then, the Wiener Konzerthaus has provided audiences with a diverse selection of Austrian and world music performances. Its magnificent atmosphere adds the experience here, as it features four grand concert halls, which, due to their clever construction, can be used simultaneously.
- Explore the archive at the Wiener Konzerthaus, which is full fascinating objects from the past100 years of performances: letters from Strauss, for example, as well as props forgotten by famous performers.
- View the original model of Kaspar von Zumbusch's famous statue of Beethoven, a bust of Liszt as well as many other statues of famous musicians in this Vienna concert hall.
- Stop by the skating rink here; the architect Ludwig Baumann's original plan for the building included an ice skating rink for the people of Vienna, and it is still in use today.
The Wiener Konzerthaus can be found in Lothringerstraße, right in Wien Landstraße, the third district of Vienna. Getting there by public transportation is very easy, as it in the central area and is serviced by the subway. Visitors can take the U3 and get off at the Stadtpark stop. The Akademie theatre bus stop is also nearby and the 4A bus line stops here. Travellers who are in the city centre of Vienna can simply walk to the concert hall. You can buy tickets for performances at the Wiener Konzerthaus online or at the box office before the show.
